Insurance & Excess Reduction
At Jimny NZ, we want to make sure you're covered — without surprises. Every rental includes standard insurance, but if you'd prefer peace of mind with lower excess costs and added protection for common incidents like tyre or windscreen damage, we offer two optional Excess Reduction Packages.
Option 1: Standard Insurance
- Daily Rate: Included in your rental
- Excess Payable: $2,500 per incident
What’s covered: Basic third-party and collision insurance
What’s not covered: Windscreens, tyres, wheels, lost keys, and all minor damage unless you opt for an excess reduction package. Full excess applies to all damage.
Option 2: Basic Excess Reduction
- Daily Rate: $14.75 incl. GST
- Excess Payable: $1,000 per incident
Benefits:
- Lower excess if something goes wrong
Does NOT cover:
- Windscreen damage
- Tyre damage
- Cosmetic or structural wheel damage
- Lost keys
If you're after a more affordable level of cover but don’t need full protection, this plan is a good middle ground.
Option 3: Premium Excess Reduction
- Daily Rate: $29.25 incl. GST
- Excess Payable: $500 per incident
Includes:
- Windscreen repairs or replacement (stone chips and cracks)
- Tyre damage (including punctures, cuts, and blowouts)
- Cosmetic wheel damage (e.g. scuffs and light scratches)
- Lost key replacement
Excludes:
- Structural wheel damage (e.g. cracks, bends)
- Negligent use or driving on prohibited roads
- Key delivery costs
This package is ideal for customers looking for maximum peace of mind, especially when travelling long distances or exploring rural New Zealand.
