---|---|
What types of cars do you have available? | We specialise in Suzuki Jimnys — compact, capable and fun to drive. All are automatic. Both 3-door and 5-door models may be available depending on dates. |
Where can I take a Jimny? | Anywhere on public roads in New Zealand. Jimnys are ideal for touring and exploring scenic gravel roads. Off-road use (beaches, riverbeds, 4WD tracks) is not permitted. |
What are the driver age and licence requirements? | Drivers must be 20 years or older with a full, valid licence. International licences are welcome where valid for driving in New Zealand. If your licence isn’t in English, please bring an official translation or an IDP. |
What insurance options do you offer? | Standard cover is included. You can reduce your excess — see our Insurance & Excess Reduction options. |
How many kilometres per day are included? | Your hire includes 250 km per day averaged across your booking (e.g., 10 days = 2,500 km). Additional distance is charged at $0.40 per km. |
What fuel does the Jimny use? | Unleaded 91 octane. Please refuel before returning the vehicle. |
Can I pick up in Queenstown? | Yes — pickups are available in Christchurch and Queenstown (check availability in the reservation flow). Queenstown pickup is about a 10-minute rideshare from the airport. |
What comes in the Adventure Package and how do I book it? | The Adventure Package turns your Jimny into a comfortable camper with a **rooftop tent**, cooking kit, camp chairs and a 12 V fridge. The tent’s sleeping area is 2.4 m × 1.4 m and includes a built-in mattress — we fit a fresh sheet for every hire. Sleeping bags and pillowcases are washed between hires. If you bring a battery pack, you can use it to power the LED roof light inside the tent. See what’s included. You can add the Adventure Package on the Extras step during booking. Note: Adventure Package pickup is from Christchurch only; vehicles can be dropped off in Queenstown. |
How do I set up the rooftop tent? | Setup typically takes 2–3 minutes. Watch the quick video: Rooftop tent setup. The tent sleeps two adults comfortably (sleeping area 2.4 m × 1.4 m) with the mattress already inside. Bring a battery pack if you’d like to power the integrated LED roof light. We’ll also demonstrate setup at pickup. |
Are snow chains included and how do I fit them? | Snow chains are included when you add the Ski Package during colder months. Details and a fitting video are here: Ski Package & chains guide. Our team can demonstrate at pickup. |
Can I drive to ski fields? | Yes — ski access roads are permitted when conditions allow. Always carry chains where required and follow road-control signage. |
Can I take the Jimny to the North Island? | Yes — inter-island travel is allowed on public roads. Add your ferry details in the booking notes so we can plan support if needed. |
Do you offer airport transfers? | Yes — you can add an airport transfer during the booking process to shuttle between Christchurch Airport and our office. |
Can I pick up or return outside business hours? | Yes — after-hours pickup from our Christchurch office is available via secure lockbox. We’ll confirm once payment is complete. |
Do you provide child seats? | Yes — baby and booster seats can be added during booking. Please tell us ages so we can supply the correct sizes. |
Is roadside assistance included? | Yes — roadside assistance is included with every hire. |
What is your off-road and beach driving policy? | Off-road driving, beaches, riverbeds and 4WD tracks are not permitted. Gravel roads are fine — drive to conditions and follow local signage. |
Can I freedom camp or use DOC sites? | Yes — please use legal campsites and follow local bylaws. Apps like CamperMate help you find approved spots. Always respect Leave-No-Trace principles. |
How are payments and the bond handled? | Hire charges and a refundable bond are processed securely before pickup. Release times may vary by bank once the vehicle is returned in the same condition. |
What if I receive a speeding or parking fine? | Infringements are the hirer’s responsibility. If authorities contact us, we may pass on your details and/or charge the fine plus a reasonable admin fee. |
What if the vehicle is damaged (tyres, wheels, windscreen)? | You’re responsible for damage outside fair wear and tear. Some excess-reduction options may include windscreen/tyre cover — see Insurance & Excess Reduction options. |
Can I add additional drivers? | Yes — additional named drivers are welcome if they meet the same age and licence requirements. Add them during booking or tell us before pickup. |
Do you deliver to hotels or private addresses? | Within Christchurch, delivery/collection can be arranged on request (subject to schedule and fee). |
